Junee

Junee Shire comprises the Junee township and the four villages of Bethungra, Illabo, Old Junee and Wantabadgery. The town prospered in the gold rushes from the 1860s to the 1880s and the wealth of that time is reflected in the grand buildings that stand today.

The area boasts history and heritage, the haunted Monte Cristo Homestead, the oldest operating Southern Hemisphere railway roundhouse and roundhouse museum as well as Junee’s Liquorice and Chocolate Factory.
