Inverell

Inverell is situated on the Macintyre River in the central New England Tablelands, on the Gwydir Highway, which connects western New South Wales with the eastern seaboard.

The Shire boasts rich farm and grazing land, including large mineral deposits, particularly tin and sapphires, with the area producing the majority of the world’s sapphires.

The Shire features diverse retail, manufacturing, professional services, construction and agricultural sectors which are all major contributors to the local economy. Tourism, in particular, is a growing industry in the Shire.
